Bedroom Design - Beach Resort

Recently I was able to help turn an old bedroom into a refreshed guest room with a Beach Resort theme. You would think that this project would have been a little weird for me, but really it was a lot of fun. Why would it be weird? My parents finally decided to re-do my old room! By recycling items from around the house, and shopping in discount stores, this room was re-done in under $500, and that includes a brand new mattress set and furniture! This room turned out great... and almost made me want to move back! Almost...

View from the entrance.

The dresser is recycled from the basement.  A small comfy chair in a  bright coordinating fabric will be added to the corner as a nice spot for guests to read or relax. The yellow and cream rug was a steal at TJ Maxx and brings out the yellow in the bedding and hides some wear and tear from the "previous owner".

This beautiful beach themed bedding was a great deal found on the last summer vacation. The  bed was a great steal found at the local Habitat for Humanity Store for only $25! We painted it and gave it an antique finish for some texture. The coordinating side tables were found at TJ Maxx along with the sparkly lamps with natural shades. The yellow pillow and white throw are from Marshalls. Some of the accessories on the bedside tables were found around the house, or also at Marshalls and TJ Maxx.

A star fish shaped plate found at Marshall's is used as a tray for a nice vase from around the home that holds a sea grass rose brought home from the beach.

Pillows make a bed extra inviting, and are a great way to bring more color into a space.

Beach themed baubles spruce up this table top, and when added with the lamp show  they create a balanced effect on either side of the bed. Always pair accessories in odd numbers.

My mom had been looking for one of these little porcelain stands generally used in a garden. When we found one in a coordinating coral color from the bedding, and the shell type texture, we couldn't resist! Eventually this may be paired with the future side chair as an ottoman or side table, but it seems to fit perfectly in this spot right now.

Don't you just want to crawl in and stay awhile?
